Every year, The League of Minnesota Poets hosts a student poetry contest. This contest is open to all Minnesota students in public, private and parochial schools grades 6 through 12. Poems are first judged on a state level. The winners in each category will receive $30 for first place, $20 for second place, and $10 for third. Student Scholarship Opportunities
The League of Minnesota Poets is an affliated chapter of the National Federation of State Poetry Socities(NFSPS). Each year NFSPS holds a collage level scholarship contest. All freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors of an accredited university or college are eligible to enter the NFSPS College/University Level Poetry Awards competition for the Edna Meudt Memorial Award and the Florence Kahn Memorial Award. Two students will receive an award of $500 each plus publication of their winning manuscript. Past student winners (Christina Flaugher and Colin Chambers) from the state of Minnesota have had their manuscripts published and traveled to the National Convention to recieve their prizes.
